Don't buy a Nissan. They have suites going on about their cars and each other. Disgusting company

Original review Apr 19, 2016
I bought a new Nissan Rogue a couple of months ago. When I developed a problem,, I called their customer service line. They play these games with you. They call you and let you tell them your problem just to tell you they will have some one else to call you. I went through this about 5 times until finally, I was told by some one named Jake that I should send all my info to some one called Courtney. He gave me her email and telephone number. I sent all my info about my expenses when my new Rogue stranded me by the highway. Nissan had also refused me road side assistance which I had been told I had. Anyway, arrogant Courtney told me that Nissan didn't have to help any customers it was entirely at her discretion. She claimed she made all those type decision for Nissan. I was out about 840 dollars and there was nothing I could do but listen to this twit tell me she didn't see a need to help me as a customer. It is a very humiliating experience to keep talking and talking and talking to their various people. I believe they make you retell your story so that they can record what you say and determine if you can build a case against them. It's a game. You are not a person to them and they don't care about any problems you have. I don't know how any of them can sleep knowing they are defending a foreign corporation against complaints made by legitimate Nissan customers. It really adds insult to injury. I would like to see Nissan run out of the country because of their abuse toward customers but apparently they have more rights than I do even though I am an American and they are a foreign entity.

CROSS CONTAMINATION from the bad design of the transmission cooling running through the radiator and ruining both with only 102k miles

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
DON'T BUY A NISSAN this is my second Nissan with a bad transmission our Xterra (in perfect shape but can't drive) has had a lawsuit which they didn't repair the problem caused by their lousy design! Who out there is going to stop them. I don't think them paying partial for a problem they caused is right THEY SHOULD REPAIR THE PROBLEM at full cost to them. And of course they only covered partial repair and only for a limited time and limited milage...I am going to shout from every direction I can until they are held accountable!!!!!!! DON'T BUY A NISSAN 2005-**** Xterra Cross contamination - 2007 Ultima with bad transmissions!!!!!!!!! Where's the people who are suppose to help with these problems.

There's a recall for the problem but they wont fix it

The service engine soon light is on, I knew what was wrong and have been in contact with Nissan motors case #2203**** about it because there was a recall for the problem but my vehicle was not included and Nissan motors said I have to have a dealership run the diagnosis before they will help so I did and now Nissan motors is not going to help with it and I spent $131.00 at ABC Nissan to tell me what I already knew. I fill that Nissan consumer affairs was not honest with me, they know the criteria for when Nissan motors will help and they encouraged me to have the diagnosis done knowing I would not qualify under Nissan motors criteria. I own 4 Nissan's now and have owned 10 total but I am done no more.

2015 Nissan Rogue

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
2015 Nissan Rogue
Blind Spot warning fails. I have provided a video and have taken their mechanic out while it was failing, but Nissan won't fix the problem. Dealership says that Nissan requires them to catch the problem with their computer attached. Dealership had vehicle 3 days and took Rogue for several short test drives, but could not duplicate. Nissan then calls me and tells me that I need to drive the service manager around until it fails, make a 2nd video of it failing or that I need to take it to another dealership 60 minutes from where I live to see if they can find the problem or they can't help me. I have provided a 1 video, I have had a Nissan mechanic visually see the failure, but I've got to continue to prove that it fails, even though nothing has been done to resolve the problem. At that point I asked to have that in writing, Nissan Corporate refused to put it in writing.

The highlighted are the complaints I did to Nissan service centre but in the letter from NISSAN date 23 October 2015 clamming that I only complaint once on 21 September 2012 (Refer to attachment at PJ 7 from NISSAN Malaysia). Please read the chronology below. My vehicle is parked at home from April 2015, so I am claiming my monthly car instalment from April 2015 (RM 1840.00 X 9) RM16,560.00 and my air-condition compressor RM1800 which I already paid and repair my gear box. Please advise ASAP and fail to do it, will share with others in social media

Sadly, since taking delivery of the car, I have experienced intermittent noise problem from the car NISSAN TEANA 2.0 litre with Malaysia registration number WVN 3040 bearing Engine No: MR2001****R. This problem has been registered with NISSAN service centre since repeated noise problem persisting after every service . On 21 September 2012 (Clocked Mileage: 46,158kM); I complained of burning odour detected while driving but the Service Centre was unable to diagnose the fault resulting in the air-conditioner compressor malfunctioned and followed by the gear box fault.

These problems could have been averted if the Service Centre exercised professionalism, prudence, and conducted an extensive technical diagnosis on the problem affecting the car. It would have saved me cost and time in remedial maintenance work. All of my complaints has been logged and beseech your good offices to check on the number of times I have registered the rattling noise problem. It makes me ponder if your workshop is technically competent.

Please take note, NISSAN service centre in the process of checking the fault have damaged LHS window glass because every time I lodge the compliant, the service foreman opens the car LHS front window glass suspecting the source of the loud noise being the glass window. They have a way of making you feel stupid.

Once I was driving with my family, suddenly we heard very loud sound where all of us were caught with fright. I did record the noise and the recording is as per attached. Upon sharing this with NISSAN service centre ; the Service personnel displayed a lackadaisical attitude. I just wonder what kind of problem Nissan will take it seriously?

On 25 April 2015 I took the car to NISSAN Service Taman Perindustrian Sungai Sedu, Jalan Banting to check the loud noise. An officer by the name of Mr. Fadzli bin Hamza and a Foreman attended and informed that the noise is due to the RHS front Brake pad which has worn out causing scratches on the brake disk as well as the metal plate holding the brake pad has broken. I asked Mr. Fadzli bin Hamza, can it be replaced immediately and he told me that they don’t have the parts now but they can order if I really wanted to be replaced. I agreed and asked him when will the parts will be ready and he told me that he will contact me once the parts arrived, maybe in 1 week time and also he gave his name card to contact him if I have any enquiry. I called his hand phone at +601******** on 25 May 2015 to find out the status of the parts, but he did not answer any of my calls and also did not reply to my SMS until to date. This is really perturbing to say the least!

On 11th June 2015 I took my car to another NISSAN service centre in Padang Jawa, Klang to replace my wind screen and also check on the unsettled loud noise. I left my car for 2 full days for them to change the wind screen and 1 day to check on the noise. I went back after receiving message from NISSAN that my car is ready for collection and they told that the noise is due to the brake pad and the noise will disappear once I change my brake pads. I asked them back, is anything wrong with the brake disk and they told me that there’s nothing wrong with the brake disk. This has left me dumbfounded!

I took my car back to another NISSAN service centre in Jalan Kemajuan, Petaling Jaya on 15 July 2015 and ask them to check on the unsettled noise which has now become increasingly worrisome. I had a very bad experience at the service office there where Mr. Tham Wai Kit thought I came without appointment because my car registration number was not in the daily appointment board and he refused to attend to my car where in fact I have already called NISSAN customer service centre on 14 July 2014 to make an appointment to check on the noise and the Lady personnel who attend my call advised me to go straight to the service centre because this isn’t not a service appointment but an emergency case. I explain to Mr. Tham and he was adamant and not happy with my explanations and displayed his displeasures by throwing file, pen and punch keys in keyboard in an aggressive manner and just walked away from his desk after I signed the information/service sheet without wishing me anything and I was still seated at counter. Later I received a call from the service centre and now they tell me gear box is faulty and what was causing the noises and now after a long winded hassle and running around the bush; Nissan wants me to pay RM 18,000 to replace with a new gear box.

Since I have lodged complaints from the very beginning and since Nissan Service Centre was inept/negligent to diagnose the fault I would appreciate it very much that the gear box replaced without any charges and also refund back my RM1815.00 which I paid for the replacement of air conditioner compressor because I have been complaining about the noise since I bought the car and I never had my car serviced other than from NISSAN service centre since the day I purchased. None of your service centres that I took my car were able to diagnose accurately on the noise problem resulting in gear box and air conditioner compressor faults.

I also own and drive Mitsubishi Pajero and a few Malaysia made cars for more than 7 years and have not experienced major problems unlike what I have faced with my NISSAN. These persistent problems and the diagnosing of problems by trial and error method by NISSAN Service Centre has left me disillusioned with NISSAN and more importantly, it has made my Life so much difficult. Fervently hope to get a favourable respond from NISSAN.

It is deepest request to note that the claim for the air cond compressor will not be entertain. It should be duly noted that the nissan teana 2014 with mileage of 106k KM is high level model and not the entry level of car so same sort of quality assure must be prioritised on these vehicle.

I don't deny the fact of the lapse of warranty but Tan chong Malaysia must also emphasise on quality and durability of parts of the vehicles. It is rather difficult to accept the fact that part of new age can't last Long

I'm facing the same problem. My Almeera making a loud noise after 3 months on today they found a problem of my car, but unfortunately my smart tag lost during they repair my car.....!!!!!

I recently have very bad experience with Tan Chong service center for their inability to fix numerous problems with my 2013 Nissan Serena. I had the transmission replaced under warranty but their bad workmanship caused unknown rattling sound at certain rev range.

After a few attempts to find out that they did not re-install the exhaust pipe properly after changing transmission. I also had the steering shaft replaced as it was having sound loud clicking when turning. A few months later, I have to walk in to the service center every week for 3 weeks to fix my aircon. They ended up changing piece by piece from the O-ring to cooling coil and then compressor.

Even though it was all free of charge as it was covered under warranty, it has caused much inconvenience to my life. Numerous calls and emails to the center to request for them to extend my warranty for a few months was unsuccessful. Additionally, the service center also messed up my mileage entry and fast forwarded by ~5000km. It took them a few months to investigate and still yet to be rectify despite that fact that request has been submitted by one of the service center.

Despite all the mishaps by Nissan, I received no compensation nor apology, not even a call from their customer service manager. Nissan car quality and services are subpar and I will never buy another Nissan again!

I own a 2011 Nissan Altima with 76, 003 miles. Have maintained the car very well. Last week, while driving my car stalled in the middle of a busy highway and almost caused an accident. I looked down and the service engine soon light was on. I reached out to Nissan to inquire about the recalls on their cvt transmissions and guess what mines was was one year outside of the "campaign". Since my car is "003 miles" out of warranty the cost to replace this transmission is *drum roll 4500 dollars. Now I know that maintaining your vehicle is on you but what do you do when you do the regular service checks and still end up with a bad transmission. If you looking at this review please.. I repeat PLEEEEAAAASE stay away from Nissan and find a CAR Manufacturer who not only stands by you while you are purchasing your car but also during the life of your car. Im quite sure you'll appreciate my advice later.. don't believe me? Scroll through some of these reviews yourself. BAD COMPANY...BUYER BE VEEERRRYYYY AWWAAAARRREEEE PLEASE!!!

There are more things I would love to comment on but there simply isn't enough space. On another note, there are a few great dealerships in MD.

However, the bad ones seem to overshadow the good ones. Go with a Car Manufacturer who will support you during the lie of your car.

I can not express this enough. Have a blessed day!!

03 nissan murano transfer case

Hello TO ALL DISAPPOINTED NISSAN MURANO OWNERS! I looked on craiglist and saw a sea of muranos for sale...next to nothing with crack transfer cases. The transmissions are not the problem (that's why they cover them), they are fairly sound! Its the tiny transfer case that takes the abuse of constant heat from rotation. The heat breaks down the gear oil, which in turn wears the bearings and shortens the life of the transfer case! And Nissan knows it and can't do anything about it because it would mean removing their crossover SUV that is so pleasing to the eye!! Right? So the choice is the buyer/owner knowledge. Change the gear oil every 30,000, save money for repairs! Which can be done cheaper with a little searching. Transfer cases come out, though a little time consuming and remans put in. But overall, more failure with exhaust converters also. A dream car of expense...buy it if you can afford it, otherwise run! I own it, I can do work on it, but when its dead or I have more money for something else, Beautiful will be retired!

Nissan NO Customer Service

2011 Nissan Juke: So far I have had to turn my car in for 2 recalls. One was the engine and the second was the timing belt. The second time they had to fix my car they told me they would be keeping it for 4-5 days! This wouldn't be a problem if they would give me a loaner car. However, they don't give out loaners unless you have 70,000 miles or less on your car. What? Why? My car only has 80,000 The only reason my car is in the shop is because of their faulty manufacturing and recall. The Town Center Nissan in Kennesaw, GA service man said I would have to call Nissan headquarters in order to get the rule overruled. Ok...whatever. I call them and then it takes a day for them to get back to me to say they refuse to help me because I didn't buy the 'extended service warranty'. Well, if I would have known what a piece of *** car and company I was buying from (I wouldn't have made the purchase) I would have bought the warranty. I asked kindly for them to make an exception because I am a good customer AND I am right at the line. Still they refused and had no other response except to say, "you didn't buy the extended service warranty." What are you trying to do Nissan NO Customer Service? Teach me a lesson about buying extended service warranties?! It's not enough to be a customer who spent 18,000 on your faulty product?! This will be the LAST Nissan I own.

Nissan Pathfinder transmission problem ignored

I have been a subscriber to Consumer Reports for many years & use it prior to any major purchases. I need to ask for your expertise.

I purchased a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder SE with automatic transmission in November 2009 from a Nissan dealership. I noticed a slight vibration coming from the rear that I thought was probably the tires being unbalanced. That was not the problem.

A month ago on a long trip, I noticed that the transmission was vibrating and dragging down the speed whenever I let up on the gas pedal.

When I returned home I did a quick internet search for answers.

The search revealed case after case of the same vibrating problem from other Pathfinder owners. It was determined that water from the radiator was somehow seeping into the transmission, ruining its function, and worse, voiding the drive-train warranty as a result.

I have three questions:

1) How would water from the radiator enter the transmission?

2) Is there any way to correct this problem before it ruins the transmission & radiator, requiring expensive repairs and/or replacement?

3) Why hasn't there been a recall for this problem by Nissan?

I have issue with 2014 Nissan CVT Nissan Pathfinder SV fwd has nothing but issues only 40k miles and 3'transmissions blown and it is out of warranty so I traded it it do not buy Nissan ever by a Toyota or ford or even a VW or bmw

Guest

TRANSMISSIOM LINE GOES THRU THE RADITOR. REPLACE RADITOR QUICKLY. I DID ON A 2005 PATHFINDER AT 85,000 MILES AND SAVED A BUNCH OF MONEY

Guest

Nissan will not pay for their faulty radiator design. You will be replacing the transmission if you don't replace the radiator.

Replace the radiator NOW. By the time the engine light comes on , it is to late.

Guest

I did the research before buying my 07 Nissan Pathfinder and when I bought it I went straight home and disconnected the transmission cooler in radiator and hooked up a Derale 8000 after market cooler and did complete tranny flush n fill and so far no problems and I will not have to worry about the dreaded transmission failure.2 hours of work and $150 dollars is well worth it to keep my pathy running trouble free.

Now all u have to worry about is the $2000 timing chain problem, the $3500 oil consumption problem, and a plethora of other gremlins that infect these Renault influenced Nissans.

Guest

I WAS DRIVING OVER THE PORT MANN BRIDGE, WHEN MY VEHICLE STARTED STUDDERING. I LOST POWER BUT WITH SOME QUICK THINKING I WAS ABLE TO PUT MY VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND SURF MOST OF THE WAY AND THEN SWITCH BACK INTO GEAR.

WORKED FOR A BIT BUT ENDED UP STRANDED. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE DROVE IT OFF THE FLAT BED. SHORTLY AFTER, ADVISED ME MY TRANSMISSION NO LONGER WORKS. HE MENTIONED THAT THE RADIATOR COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND HE WAS CERTAIN THE PREVIOUS OWNERS KNEW ABOUT IT.

THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS FLUSHED BUT THE DAMAGE WAS ALREADY DONE. Basically, the previous owners withheld that info and lied. Now having read the articles this has been an ongoing issue that Nissan has failed to recall.

However, there is a pending class action lawsuit and hopefully the recall will go through. Many owners are disappointed with Nissan and I am also upset with the seller not being honest, THEY BOTH PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER.

Guest

Same problem. 2006 Pathfinder with 103,000 miles.

The lawyer from the class action lawsuit says if it would've happened before flipping over 100K, he could help me. I talked to a few mechanics. A couple of them told me I had to rebuild the tranny and replace the radiator, while a couple of others said to replace the radiator and flush the tranny out. I'm sure it would be better with the first option, but I don't have that kind of money.

So, I'm gonna have to try the 2nd option. I will NEVER purchase a Nissan again.

Guest

Same problem. We have already replaced the radiator and flushed the trans.

Seems the trans is still messed up because the truck is still acting up.

We might end up having to fix the trans. 2 questions: do I have to place a new one or can it be rebuilt?

After these repairs, will it happen again or will it be a permanent fix?

Guest

same problem with the trans. I have a pathfinder 2005 .130k miles.

this june.anti-freeze leaked into the transmission. I replaced the radiator and all hose assembly, change twice the trans. oil and filter.$950 cost.

now I still have the trans. problem that it will cost from $3500 to $5000.I called the dealer they charge twice as much.

Guest

I have a 2006 pathfinder the transmission fluid mixed with the anti-freeze because of a faulty radiator and the dealership said my pathfinder had over 100,000 mile so they are not responsible. So now my pathfinder sits in my driveway because it will take 2500 to 3500 dollars to fix.

I have had 6 Nissan in the past BUT since no one will help me I will NEVER buy another one and I hope they go out of business.

Nissan Dealer Screws Loyal Customer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Well, I just got off the phone with Megan in the Midwest customer service office for Nissan (615-725-****) who told me my 2012 (purchased in 2013, new from the dealer) Nissan Armada Platinum didn't "qualify" for out of warranty help when my AC/Heat motor went out....with only 40,000 miles. Now see, this is exactly the type of poor customer service that turns a loyal customer into an avid "basher" of a brand. Consider this: It's a $50,000 vehicle, with only 40,150 miles on it. I think we can all agree that the blower motor for the heat (especially the front defrost!) is pretty important and should last more than 2 winters of ownership. The vehicle is meticulously maintained and always garaged. They now want to charge me over $550 (with diagnostic fee) to replace it. I have 5 children who, sorry, just want to be warm when when they ride to school and it's a majorly dangerous thing that as it gets cold and snow, that we can't defrost the front windshield. This is one of those things that these service people never understand. Why don't they take into consideration everything to do with the situation. "hey, this guy has been a loyal customer. He's got a bunch of kids and they have a lot of cars left to buy in their life. The car is an expensive car that should have heater work longer than 2 winters. We can do something to meet-them-halfway". That would have been right, fair and kept us loyal. Now we see EXACTLY WHY Consumer Reports gives them such low customer satisfaction ratings. We didn't see that until AFTER we bought this Nissan and quite frankly, we didn't understand why they were given such low ratings. But you know what? They EARN those low ratings. I can't believe we bought a vehicle with this kind of track record from a company like Nissan. LESSON LEARNED. - JM

Nissan Leaf

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Bought a new Leaf off Nissan (UK) in August 2015. In September it had to be returned to be fixed as the car was unable to talk to the Carwings network. They blamed user error until I proved it was a fault. Then in December the roof failed and water leaked into the cabin. Nissan accepted that this was a manufacturing defect, where the welds had failed. Nissan took the car in to fix. It came back over 2 months later, still leaking, with a damaged roof lining, paint on the leather seats and the plastics on the rear posts scratched. Went in with one issue and came back with four! Rejected the car but Nissan said I couldn't. They are fixing the car again. May take some time and I have no choice but to accept a new car which has fault after fault. Shocking customer service and treat their customers like they are idiots. Never buy Nissan people.

Nissan Car Review

I have been having brake pressure issues and i called nissan to see if there is a recall and nope there is not. But reading all reviews and so many other people having the same issue, i dont see why itis not. I spoke to a nissan employee and she made me aware that i am not the only complaint. I then called nissan customer service and they told me to take it to nissan to have their mechanics look at it. Ive read others did a brake flush, abs fuse changed or unplugges then put back and a master cylinder and none of that fixed the problem. Nissan wants multiple people to die or sue them before they take action.

My husband & I own 3 Nissan cars. Almost simultaneously, all 3 catalytic converters went. We contacted Nissan to see if there was a recall..of course there wasn't. What they prefer you do is go have all 3 diagnostics completed at Nissan-which you do the math & then fight out with Nissan regarding making this a recall. Sounds like Nissan is trying to avoid paying a major expense. Contemplating getting new vehicles-nissans for sure won't be on the list!

Sub-par product, sub-par quality, horrible customer service

The CVT transmission in my 2011 Nissan Rogue is garbage, just like many others I've discovered who are having the same issue. Customer relations at the regional headquarters have been reasonable (and I'm not through the entire process yet, as I refuse to give up) and are willing to hear me out, but the local Nashville Downtown Nissan folks have been rude, short, and the customer service manager has a very ugly attitude. He told me what was wrong with my vehicle but then quickly advised me to come and pick it up because it wasn't under warranty and they didn't want the work if I was going to negotiate this repair with the regional headquarters. Even if Nissan North America and I don't come to an agreement I still have to get my car fixed and will have to pay for it out of pocket. Nope, they don't care; "come get your vehicle" is all I got. Very ugly, rude, and greedy people who don't even care about being decent representatives of their own brand. This has been a horrible experience. Don't buy Nissan, go with Honda or something else. It's just not worth it.

Rusted under carriage and caused brake line issues. Car was very well cared for and the brakes cost $4000 to repair, really? This should be a recall because of rusting since this is a know issue with Nissan. I loved my pathfinder and the brake line being exposed due to known rusting issues should be covered under rusting rules and fixed as part of a recall. I have heard this same issue with several owners. Nissan is unresponsive on this issue and it is sad. I guess off to buy a new car I go. Maybe Toyota this time, this would have been my 5th Nissan but oh well.

I see you don't bother telling us where you are from. A rusty undercarriage is not grounds for a recall. It happens.
