Sorry to hear about your problems, this issue has more to do with the dealership than with Nissan, in my opinion. The reason I say that is because my 2003 Nissan Altima also had to go in for a recall this year (2008) for the computer thingy I think, immediately afterwards I experienced trouble with the idle control being too high and there seemed to be slippage in the tranny, and there was oil in my exhaust, and the catalytic converter was making noise, my dealership, Sansone Route 1 Nissan Auto Mall was amazing, they got me a rental, ordered a new engine, and a new catalytic converter and they didn't charge me a cent...I do have the extended Auto Plus Premier warrenty, but they did great work at the dealership's service center and treated me very well, keeping me well informed and the car runs great. I guess it all comes down to investigating the dealership before purchasing the car....and alway...always have an extended warrenty (but make sure u read all of the fine print).
